Anger

I read an opinion over the weekend. The author asserted that the election this fall would not be about policies, platforms, or positions. Rather, it would be about anger. Whoever is the angriest will win in November, he said.

“A strong feeling of displeasure,” is how the dictionary defines anger.

Everyone is displeased about something—anger is everywhere.

Proverbs says, “He who is slow to anger has great understanding.”

Scripture says to be angry. It also says that anger is not a solution, it’s an indicator. If all you are is angry, you misuse anger and sin.

The Bible is saying that you are angry because you don’t understand.

Confusion, misdirection, politics, irregularity. You can’t sit down and figure out the world. Displeasure.

You can understand that the world is a confusing place. You can also understand that God holds today.

As the One who is perpetually present tense, God holds everything.

Understanding everything is above your pay grade, but understanding God’s care is not. In fact, it is this understanding—His faithful care—that defuses anger.

Whatever your displeasure, hand it to your heavenly Father. He cares for you.
