Get After It

I’m a Trekkie. I loved “Star Trek”… but not the original with Captain Kirk. I’m a “Star Trek: Next Generation” Trekkie.

Sir Patrick Stewart starred as, Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Three phrases defined his command.

“Make it so.”

“Nicely done.”

And after he gave orders, he said, “Engage.”

And everyone and everything did.

Engage.

Everyone carried out their orders. Each acted. Each took responsibility. Each behaved effectively—that is, each considered who needed to know what they knew. Communication.

Granted, we aren’t racing through space to discover new worlds, but we are waking up in a confusing new world every day.

We are living with mystery.

You can hunker down or you can engage.

I’m not editorializing about breaking quarantine. I’m encouraging you to take note of who and what and the potential that awaits. Engage.

You are indwelt by God. Your future is secure. Your identity declared. You are free.

Engage. Get after it. Do not fear!
