Lions
Why did you become a Christian?
Security? Deliverance perhaps?
In this world, you have tribulation. You are persistently stalked by an enemy who roams like a lion.
Deliverance sounds good—even necessary, certainly preferable to being devoured.
Christianity contains the confidence that Christ in you is sufficient for whatever. This includes lions. So, your soul rests even though stalked.
Christianity is not idealism. It is victorious reality. The challenge is defining “victorious” while in the midst of lions. Thus, my rationale for writing to you.
Let the lions roar and pace! Let the pride eye you with hungry eyes. Reject the enemy’s suggestions to freeze in fear, to break and run, to conclude that you are abandoned, or that God is derelict.
You belong to Christ. He is your resource, confidence, and security. Quit focusing on the lions. Set your mind on what you know is true. This is realistic, confident victory.
The lions may go away. They may eat you a bite at a time. They may devour you.
Whatever.
You still belong to God. You are filled with the Spirit, engulfed in Christ, and are always victorious. The stalking lions are a distraction. Let the lions roar.
